Wilsons fame surpassed that of the United States in 2014, as she landed a part in Showtimes The Affair. In this show, Wilson was Alison Lockhart who is a young, troubled girl who comes from a rough background. Lockhart is a lover of the love of her life, Noah Solloway. Wilson together with Mauratierney as well as Joshua Jackson won a Golden Globe for Best Actress for a Television series-drama in 2015. Wilson said in British Vogue: "I love the fact that I am able to play characters in two perspectives." Noah considers that Alison is the most confident, attractive and reckless persona of her. But in real life Alison sees herself as unattractive. She added: I do believe that America is morally skewed and so judgmental that what takes place in the show seems to be shocking. Wilson quit the show in 2018 to many fans' shock, but she didn't provide any particulars. I was tempted to quit however it's not my job to say the reason. Wilson said this in an interview with CBS This Morning conducted in August of 2018. Wilson recently changed her focus to films. She was in the film of horror I Am the Pretty Thing Who Lives in The House in 2016, and later in the rom-com with a sci-fi twist How to Talk to Girls on Parties as the mysterious PT Stella. Wilson will add another film of horror to her credits when she appears in The Little Stranger, a British adaptation of The Little Stranger, a supernatural thriller based on the novel of Sarah Waters. Wilson will be executive producing the film.
